Bildwiederholfrequenz und xorg.conf

    Hallo!

    Ich habe vor kurzem einen neuen Treiber von Ati installiert. Seitdem läuft mein Monitor nicht mehr mit maximaler Bildwiederholfrequenz. Er läuft unter 1152x864@85Hz, dabei kann er 1152x864@100Hz (was er beim letzten Treiber auch tat). Die richigen Specs des Monitors sind eingetragen! Kann es sein, dass das Problem darin liegt, dass mein Monitor in der xorg.conf gar nicht benutzt wird, sondern ein Standard-Monitor? Es gibt zweimal Section "Monitor".
    Der PC soll also endlich kapieren, dass mein Moni bis 95 kHz draufhat!

    Betrifft Suse Linux 10.0 ( bei allen Suseversionen anwendbar)
    Habe selbst keine ATI Karte benutze Nvidia. Deshalb sind meine Angaben nur eine Vermutung. Im vergleich der Xorg.conf wurde bei mir der Monitor mit Name und allen Eigenschaften im unteren Abschnitt angegeben. Bei dir fehlen hinweise auf den Monitor und seine Eigenschaften.
    Nvidia Treiberinstallation hinterlies unter Weitere Programme ein Modul NVIDIA X Server Settings ( ev. ATI auch schon gesucht ?)
    zudem finde ich im K-Menue unter:
    System/Desktop-Applet/Auflösungs_Umschalter wenn ich diesen Aufrufe erscheint in der Kontrolleiste ein Icon darin sind die verschieden Auflösungen und Frequenzen zum auswählen vorhanden.
    Letzte möglichkeit den Monitor mit sax2 neu zu Installieren. Hier hast Du sogar die möglichkeit zu bestimmen beziehungsweise einen Unbekannten oder mangelhaft erkannten manuell zu generieren. Achtung nie den Angebotenen test überspringen spart viel Arbeit.

    Danke für den Tip, ich habe das Problem schon gestern gelöst, aber auf andere Weise. Man sollte es natürlich erstmal mit Sax2 versuchen, aber ich poste hier trotzdem nochmal meine Lösung, falls jemand dasselbe Problem haben sollte. Ach ja, der Text ist jetzt auf Englisch, weil ich auch in anderen Foren gefragt habe (Tschuigung).


    Reason for the problem:
    My driver installed a new monitor without any specifications given; the old monitor specifications in the xorg.conf called Monitor[0] were just ignored. BUT: changing the link from aticonfig-Monitor[0] to Monitor[0] caused X to fail. Apparently, aticonfig-Monitor[0] is integrated within the xorg.conf or even outside of this file.

    (Partial) solution:
    So what did I do? I pasted the specs of Monitor[0] into aticonfig-Monitor[0]. After that, the screen still ran with 78 Hz instead of the optimal 100 Hz (don't know why). After that, I deleted the Modelines of my resolution 1152x864 except for the upper line with nearly 100 Hz. So the driver just behaves illogically. Actually, only 1152x864 does now work because I haven't worked out the other Modelines.

    So here's my new xorg.conf.
